London-based drummer, composer, and producer Tom Skinner is directly associated with several genre-defying and boundary pushing projects, regularly contributes to recording and live dates for significant artists, and releases records of his own where he leads his band down uncharted paths of exploratory jazz and other further out sounds. Skinner plays alongside members of Radiohead in the Smile, is the founding drummer of London jazz supergroup Sons of Kemet; he traverses both meditative grooves and spiritual expression on 2022's Voices of Bishara, his debut leader date, featuring saxophonists Nubya Garcia and Shabaka Hutchings. Two years later, in May 2024, Skinner issued Voices of Bishara Live at "Mu", a double length offering that showcased extended versions of tracks on the studio date with current saxophoonists, Chelsea Carmichael and Robert Stillman.
Tom Skinner has also released music as a member of The Smile, Owiny Sigoma Band, Melt Yourself Down Sons Of Kemet.
