About The Thrills
Artist Biography
In the early 2000s, The Thrills found indie rock success by modernizing the breezy, jangly California rock vibes of the ’60s and ’70s. Unsurprisingly, the Irish band spent time in the Sunshine State after forming in the mid-’90s as The Cheating Housewives. These visits naturally influenced the songwriting on their work, and they changed their name to The Thrills in 2001. The band’s 2003 debut, So Much for the City, included the harmony- and organ-heavy “One Horse Town” and the sunny, banjo-driven “Big Sur.” The Thrills maintained their nostalgic vibe the following year with Let’s Bottle Bohemia, as evidenced by the lush tempo and orchestration of “Not for All the Love In the World” and the disco-kissed “Whatever Happened to Corey Haim?” They released a third album, 2007’s Teenager, but entered an extended hiatus shortly thereafter.
