About The Saw Doctors
Artist Biography
Originating in County Galway, Ireland, the Saw Doctors fused rock with traditional Gaelic music. Best experienced live, their repertoire meshed traditional and modern instrumentation in a furious medley of boozy sing alongs and sombre ballads. They signed to WEA in 1992 for ALL THE WAY FROM TUAM, but exploded with the single, "I Useta Lover", which topped the charts for nine weeks becoming Ireland’s all-time biggest-seller. The band subsequently formed their own Shamtown label, and broke into the UK Top 30 with 1994’s SMALL BIT OF LOVE EP--following with the Top 10 album, SAME OUL’ TOWN. Throughout the '90s and '00s, they also thrived as a sizable concert draw in the U.S.
