Artist Biography
Seven-member Hamilton, Ontario, band the Rest create twisting visions of lush, poetic indie rock rife with inventive instrumentations and gripping melody. While comparisons to fellow contemporary Canadian indie rockers Arcade Fire fly fast and furious and are not entirely unwarranted, the Rest’s compositions up the prairie-dog-drifter ante while toning down (at times) the pomp and orchestration. The result is more a Tindersticks with less melancholy, or a less id-inspired Leonard Cohen, a modern, soulful, woeful, joyous brand of northern pop for a Pitchfork world.
