LA synthwave duo The Midnight invoke the film scores, soft rock, and neon imagery of the ’80s.
• In 2012, singer Tyler Lyle and producer Tim McEwanLyle met during a writing session in LA. Their very first time writing together, they came up with “WeMoveForward,” which wound up on their 2014 debut EP, Days of Thunder.
• The duo embraces popular fan-made videos that sync their songs to clips from ’80s TV shows and films, including E.T. and The Karate Kid.
• They’ve collaborated multiple times with fellow synthwave artist Timecop1983. They have also created unofficial remixes for artists like Drake, Jon Bellion, and ARIZONA.
• The Midnight’s 2020 album Monsters went Top 30 on the Australian pop charts and reached No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
