Few acts fit the "great lost American band" profile more than Cleveland's the Mice. Founded by brothers Bill and Tommy Fox (with bassist Ken Hall) in the mid '80s, the Mice have a tiny but brilliant catalog that surely ranks among the best power pop ever made--although few people ever heard it in their day. Those that did--such as indie superbands Guided By Voices and Superchunk--were floored by the trio's deliriously catchy hooks, punk energy, and upper register vocal harmonies. The band recorded one EP and one full-length before disbanding in 1987 but saw both reissued on one disc by stalwart midwest label Scat in 2004. Bill Fox went solo and released two lo-fi acoustic masterpieces in the mid '90s.
Members of The Mice include, or have included, Bill Fox.
