In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 12 or 13 It's Tricky blew my mind. I listened to it on repeat driving around with my Grandpa for weeks. Soon after, a kid at school gave me a tape with Minor Threat on one side and Public Enemy on the other - I was changed for life.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Beastie Boys, Paul's Boutique (20th Anniversary Remastered Edition)[Bonus B-Boy Bouillabaisse] Brandy Clark, 12 Stories Hot Snakes, Suicide Invoice 12 Stories shows Brandy Clark's amazing storytelling, wit and punchy verbal economy. Suicide Invoice is a blast of hidden melody, punk explosiveness and jaded optimism. Paul's Boutique is the Beasties at their most lyrically playful and creative.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Rappers Malaise” I'm so proud if this song - the beat is great but it's the lyrics that keep on giving. It sounds like a chat between a man and his doctor but it's really a loveletter to 80s and 90s hip-hop. I packed it with wordplay and references for hip-hop fans.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I'm a 50-year-old dad of three, first-time-rapper who, six months ago, was secretly writing rhymes. To have those songs heard and enjoyed by people I've never met in places I've never been, blows my mind. Oh, and getting played on BBC Radio 2!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? So many things - record an album, perform live, improve my flow, meet a fan. I'm so new to the game and so unexpectedly in it, that expected steps are a huge buzz. Nobody debuts at 50-years-old! I'm playing catch-up and it's all a bucket list.
