Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember getting my first real drumset for my 10th birthday - a Pearl Export kit with a Japanese Rising Sun shell. I played it every day for hours and hours, making up my own songs along with my brother on keyboards or guitar.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? De La Soul, De La Soul Is Dead Spoon, Lucifer On the Sofa The Beatles, The Beatles (The White Album) The White Album showcases each band member's songwriting and its got a lot of weird stuff. Speaking of weird, De La Soul is Dead has so many moments of strange brilliance - it is a classic. Lucifer on the Sofa is the best rock album in years.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Are You Gonna Be Okay?” You can interpret the song in a few different ways but it is really about me asking myself if I'm going to be okay. It came together in a matter of a few hours one day, and most of what you hear on the recording are first takes.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Working with multi-platinum songwriter/producer Daniel Jones from Savage Garden - he really helped me get out of my shell as a songwriter and not be afraid to try new things. I learned a lot and cherish the time we spent together.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would like to play a large venue where the entire audience is singing along to my songs. It would be a great feeling to know that a lot of people know the words to my music and hopefully the music speaks to them in a way that is helpful in some way
