The brash, bluesy, female-fronted quintet the Duke Spirit released their first EP, Darling, You're Mean, in 2003 on City Rockers. Later that year, the label released the Roll, Spirit, Roll EP, which won the band critical acclaim from publications such as NME. Loog signed the band soon after and released 2005's Cuts Across the Land. In 2006, the band also released the limited-edition covers EP Covered in Love. The group also worked on a collaboration with UNKLE that was recorded with producer Chris Goss; the track appeared on UNKLE's 2007 album. The band worked with Goss again on its second album, Neptune, which arrived in spring 2008. ~ Heather Phares
