The Bony King of Nowhere is the musical project of critically acclaimed Belgian alternative singer/songwriter Bram Vanparys, who has been compared to similarly styled English-language alternative singer/songwriters such as Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, and Devendra Banhart. A multi-instrumentalist, Vanparys first made a name for himself with a demo recording that was highlighted by The Wire magazine. A recording opportunity with the Helicopter label resulted, and Vanparys collaborated with producer Koen Gisen on his full-length album debut, 2009's Alas My Love, which was released in association with EMI and became a Top Ten hit on the Belgian albums chart. Sophomore album Eleonore was released in 2011, followed by The Bony King of Nowhere in 2012. ~ Jason Birchmeier
