The Be Good Tanyas blend country and folk with some subtle pop influences to create a sound equally appealing to traditionalists and alt-country fans. Formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, in the late 1990s, the group originally consisted of Samantha Parton, Frazey Ford, Trish Klein, and Jolie Holland, although Holland left for a solo career prior to the release of the band's 2001 debut, BLUE HORSE. Following that album's success, the Be Good Tanyas became regular fixtures on the roots-music festival circuit, with 2003's CHINATOWN and 2006's HELLO LOVE maintaining their high profile.

Members of The Be Good Tanyas include, or have included, Frazey Ford and Jolie Holland.

The Be Good Tanyas has also released music as a member of Po' Girl.
