The Band Perry blended country twang with rock stomp and a touch of American gothic on a string of hits in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Siblings Kimberly, Reid, and Neil Perry came together as a band in 2005 and signed a record deal in 2009. Their swinging first single, “Hip to My Heart,” was a modest country-radio hit, but the second one, the pensive “If I Die Young,” became a smash, topping the country and adult-contemporary charts in the U.S. and reaching listeners around the world. The group’s self-titled debut spawned three more singles, and in 2012 they teased its follow-up with the modern murder ballad “Better Dig Two”; that song hit No. 1 on the country chart, and Pioneer followed in the spring of 2013. In the mid-2010s The Band Perry began flirting with more pop-oriented sounds; in 2018 they released the EP COORDINATES, which was executive produced by Rick Rubin, and in 2023 they announced a hiatus.
Members of The Band Perry include, or have included, Reid Perry and Neil Perry.
