About The 5.6.7.8's
Artist Biography
While primarily known in the West as the beehived, surf-rocking chicks performing in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, Vol. 1, the 5.6.7.8's tore up the Japanese retro-garage scene for a decade-and-a-half before their cinematic debut. Formed in 1986 by sisters Yoshiko and Sachiko Fujiyama, the band evolved from a Ramones-inspired, trash punk quartet to a trio that specialized in raved-up, obsessively retro '60s garage surf. With a Ronettes-inspired look and a Link Wray-with-a-fuzz-pedal panoply of riffs, the trio recorded a series of hyper-energetic records in the '90s and '00s ready-made for doing the Frug in a mosh pit. Their cover of the Rock-A-Teens' "Woo-Hoo" landed the trio high-profile licensing spots in American advertising.
