Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Hitting play and pause of a portable cassette deck in my bedroom in the 70s, writing down lyrics from the Beatles White Album that my brother made me a copy of... combined with hearing the "music" of John Cage a few years later, my fate was sealed.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? David Sylvian, A Victim of Stars 1982-2012 Father John Misty, Pure Comedy Sufjan Stevens, Carrie & Lowell A melancholy mishmash of internal gazes and outward observations that attempt to harmonize identity with reality, history with presence, truth with denial, deadly seriousness with lively desire. No flinching at what is or isn't. Hiding in the open.

I try to be breathless (with surprise... and fear of making it public) after creating a song. This song hits those notes. It's heartbreaking and, also, how can you not laugh?
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? A crew of 30 putting on my musical play in 1996 in Los Angeles... one of the first "Post-AIDS" plays. Standing room only, sold-out shows, enthusiastic reviews, such as "successfully treads the fine line between raunchy and tasteless." (L.A. Times)
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Getting back to performing live, which I now can do. I've been the executive director of non-profit organizations that aim to stay at the edge, so there is community for folks when they find themselves there. Mentored folks to take over.
