About Talulah Gosh
Artist Biography
Formed in Oxford, in February 1986, Talulah Gosh were captains of England’s mid 1980s twee revolution. Led by Amelia Fletcher, the band purveyed an almost overwhelmingly cutesy aesthetic equal parts American Girl Group, bubblegum punk, and child-like innocence. Their song “The Day She Lost Her Pastels Badge” perfectly encapsulates the twee sound and also nods to the band and movement’s patron saints. While Talulah Gosh never made it further than the U.K. indie charts, they’ve been enormously influential on a subsequent generation of gentle-hearted indie rockers. Following the demise of the band, Fletcher started Heavenly, a similarly jangly outfit, in the late 1980s/early '90s.
