About TAD
Artist Biography
Tad formed in Seattle in 1988, during the calm-before-the-storm days of the grunge-rock revolution. Centered around Tad Doyle and Kurt Danielson, who had previously worked together in the delightfully named Bundle Of Hiss, the band swiftly caught on with the rocketing Sub Pop label. While they were grunge icons, Tad's 1989 debut, GOD'S BALL, demonstrated they were closer in style to Black Sabbath than Black Flag. A chaotic 1989 tour with Nirvanaan EP with Steve Albini, and the solid 1991 release 8 WAY SANTA built the act's reputation. With grunge exploding, Tad inked to the majors for 1993's INHALER without compromising attitude on bad-tempered songs like "Grease Box" and "Lycanthrope." After a 1995 swan song, the band called it quits.
