Like Martha Reeves, Syreeta joined the staff of Motown as a secretary. After singing backing vocals on several sessions, Ashford & Simpson produced her 1967 debut single, "I Can’t Give Back the Love I Feel for You," which became a cult favorite among British soul fans. She co-wrote Stevie Wonder's 1970 hit "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)," and in 1972, Wonder produced Syreeta, a stunning collection of soft soul and light funk. The collaboration continued with 1974's Stevie Wonder Presents Syreeta, producing the reggae-flavored U.K. Top 20 hit "Your Kiss Is Sweet." Syreeta teamed up with Billy Preston on the soundtrack Fast Break and the Top Five hit "With You I’m Born Again." She retired from music in the mid-'80s and passed away from cancer in 2004. ~ Rovi Staff
