In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My first live show was Radiohead's first Chicago show as well. It was at the Metro, a perfect venue that feels cozier than it's capacity. Standing at the back of the room in front of the sound board the room erupted I was spellbound, mesmerized.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Broadcast, Tender Buttons The Flaming Lips, Hit to Death in the Future Head The Stone Roses, The Stone Roses Remastered 2009 A great album has a vibe and it's own sound. Each song connected, flowing into the next well being distinctive from each other. Mostly, it's how it frames a feeling though the entire record.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Safety City” There is a math rock/post rock breakdown that is just a little discordant. It breaks up the manic feel while also accenting it. The lyrics match the music so perfectly, describing a a fake city and calculating what burns around us.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The random traffic stop outside of El Paso by the border patrol. We had just done laundry on tour, it's hard to find the time, and the officers dumped out all our clothes in the dirt looking for contraband. All we had was cans of ravioli and corn.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to play in McAllen, TX again, the last time we were supposed to play there before Austin City Limits and our van broke down in East George. Not sure you if you have been to East George, they have a nice library and a good diner.
