About Steve Davis
Hometown
Worcester, MA, United States
Born
April 14, 1967
Genre
Jazz
Technically adroit, Steve Davis plays trombone with great flair and invention, bringing to his performances a thorough understanding of the hard bop origins of contemporary jazz. Davis got his break in 1990 when he joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Following spells with Lionel Hampton, Curtis Fuller, and Cecil Payne he became a member of the One For All Sextet, with Eric Alexander. In the mid-90s Davis led his own bands, and in addition to recording with these outfits, Davis has also recorded with his wife, pianist Mary DiPaola-Davis.
