SQÜRL is an experimental and genre-defying project led by director/guitarist Jim Jarmusch and film producer/musician Carter Logan. The group formed in 2009 as a trio called Bad Rabbit, who released the Limits of Control EP soundtrack for his film of the same name. Over the next decade, Bad Rabbit morphed into SQÜRL and developed a textural and broodingly atmospheric sound that lent itself well to cinematic soundtrack work. The group provided the scores and soundtracks for several films and in 2023 released Silver Haze, an album which featured guest appearances from Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anika, and Marc Ribot amid SQÜRL's dense and often menacing soundscapes. 2024's Music for Man Ray included four short film scores that were commissioned to accompany each of the artist's silent films contained in his Retour a la Raison.
Members of SQÜRL include, or have included, Jim Jarmusch.
