The Distillers' 2005 disbandment left singer Brody Dalle to ponder her future as a musician. After a break from music that involved the birth of her daughter, she made plans to do a project with broader pop influences and contemporary electronic groups. Her love of harder rock eventually clouded her original vision, and live musicians -- including the Distillers' Tony Bevilacqua, the Mars Volta's Jon Theodore, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Jack Irons -- were brought in for recording. Ghetto Love, the resulting EP, was released as a download in 2008. Eventually settling with Rush's Anthem label, the group's self-titled full-length arrived in 2009. ~ Jason Lymangrover
