Artist Biography
Mexican electronic duo Sotomayor mix in elements of Latin music, Afro-beat, and lots of percussion, passing them all through the lens of bass music.
Siblings Raul (production) and Paulina Sotomayor (vocals) grew up in Mexico City, where Paulina originally performed in the indie folk band Jefes del Desierto and Raul formed one half of jazz-funk duo Beat Buffet, along with running a Sunday afternoon party called Day Off. They began making music together in 2014 and managed to record their debut, 2015's Salvaje, within a year. Off the back of that album and their live shows around the city, Sotomayor managed to crowd-fund their second album, 2017's Conquistador. They signed to Wonderwheel Recordings in 2019, leading to their third full-length, Origenes, the following year. ~ Liam Martin
