With their bucolic indie folk, Australian band Sons Of The East yearn for a time and place that can’t ever be replicated. Whispers of The Byrds’ air-tight harmonies and Bob Dylan’s world-wearied croaks carry through their strings-heavy jams, while their soft piano melodies ache with a sense of hard-won wisdom. Following in the footsteps of groups like Mumford & Sons, the Sydney trio of Dan Wallage, Nic Johnston, and Jack Rollins formed Sons Of The East in 2011 and quickly gathered a loyal following throughout Australia with their spirited live shows. They’d spend the next decade refining their sound, effortlessly jumping between mandolin-fueled sing-alongs, banjo-powered folk stomps, pensive piano-pop ballads, and even an infectious house collaboration with German DJ BUNT. with 2016’s “Coming Home.” After a long string of singles and EPs, the trio finally announced the release of their long-awaited debut album in 2021.
