Boston-based hardcore band Slapshot formed in the early-1980s and swiftly earned a reputation for upping the production ante while retaining the stark sense of diy fierceness. Their 1986 debut release on Taaang! Records, the seven-track BACK ON THE MAP, captured the passion of a band consumed by its music. The group would become a live sensation within the tight-knit hardcore scene and prolifically produce records for both Taang! and We Bite It, including the 1994 Steve Albini-produced, UNCONSCIOUSNESS, despite a number of line-up changes. The band hit its end after 1996’s OLDE TYME HARDCORE, but rumors of reunion persisted, and were fulfilled with 2003's satisfying DIGITAL WARFARE.
