Born in California and raised in Brooklyn, exploratory and inventive rapper Siya raised her profile in 2014 after starring on the reality TV series Sisterhood of Hip Hop. Initially, her debut mixtape, 2011's Elevator Dreams, caught the attention of Tank, who duly signed her to his R&B Money imprint in 2012. By the time Sisterhood of Hip Hop aired, she'd moved to Los Angeles and released her D.Y.K.E. mixtape. 2015 brought two further projects, Better Late Than Never and What Never Happened, the latter a rumination on the absence of her father. In early 2016, Siya featured on Tank's pulsing single "#BDAY" alongside Chris Brown and Sage the Gemini. That year closed with SIYAvsSIYA, her slick debut album. Siya's appearance in 2017's Queen Latifah-backed Deuces led to further film roles. In 2023, she appeared in the BET+ series Angel while simultaneously releasing a major-label EP, Mixed Emotions, on Def Jam.
