About Single Gun Theory
Artist Biography
Similar in style to Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, and Bel Canto -- female-fronted alternative bands with prominent new age influences -- Australia's Single Gun Theory were formed in the mid-'80s by Jacqui Hunt, Kath Power, and Pete Rivett-Carnac. The trio's first album, Exorcise This Wasteland, was released in Australia in 1987. Later that year, Single Gun Theory gained a deal with the Canadian label Nettwerk, which issued the LP that November. The band spent four years working on a follow-up, and in 1991 put out Millions Like Stars in My Hand, Darkly Shining. After one more album for Nettwerk, Burning Bright (But Unseen), the group signed to IRS for 1994's Flow, River of My Soul. ~ John Bush
