Artist Biography
Simulation is a collaboration between Laura Callier (Gel Set) and Whitney Johnson (Matchess). On releases such as 2019's Death's Head Speaks, the duo combine abstract techno beats, ethereal textures, and haunting vocals, producing spiritual, free-flowing dance music.
Callier and Johnson both met in Chicago, but they started the Simulation project while on tour in 2015. Following a paranormal experience that took place in a hotel in Montana, as well as various mishaps and cancelled shows, the duo decided to play music together for the remainder of the tour, rather than perform their usual solo sets. Simulation's first cassette, Nalumbanet, was released by Eye Vybe Records in 2016. Callier relocated to Los Angeles in 2017, but the pair continued to work together, and Death's Head Speaks appeared on Hausu Mountain in 2019. ~ Paul Simpson
