A pop band with punk roots, Set It Off has spent a decade topping the charts and broadening their sound.
∙ Founded in 2008 by Cody Carson and a group of his high school friends, the Tampa-based band took their name from a lyric in Fall Out Boy’s “Calm Before the Storm.”
∙ Set It Off’s debut LP, 2012’s Cinematics, cracked the Billboard 200 and reached No. 4 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.
∙ New Years Day frontwoman Ash Costello guested on “Partners in Crime,” one of Cinematics’s breakout tracks.
∙ “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing,” from 2014’s Duality, featured The Academy Is... frontman William Beckett and has since become Set It Off’s most popular song.
∙ Upside Down reached No. 11 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart in 2016, and 2019’s Midnight went even higher, peaking at No. 8.
∙ Piecing together lyrics submitted by their fans during a livestream, Set It Off wrote the 2018 single “Hourglass Love” and posted the finished product online a few days later.
