About Sabrina Starke
Artist Biography
Born in Paramaribo, the capital city of Suriname, Rotterdam-based singer/songwriter Sabrina Starke made her recording debut with "Do for Love" on the Star-K label; the single, co-written by Starke and produced by the Dutch production team Beat Royalty, eventually rose to Top Ten success in The Netherlands and garnered the attention of EMI, which signed Starke to a major-label recording contract with its Blue Note Records division. Starke's full-length album debut, 2008's Yellow Brick Road, likewise rose to Top Ten success. A stylistic mix of soul and jazz, along with folk and R&B, the Beat Royalty-produced album spawned the follow-up hit singles "Foolish" and "A Woman's Gonna Try." Starke's sophomore album, Bags & Suitcases, arrived in 2010, followed by Outside the Box in 2012. ~ Jason Birchmeier
