About Rye Rye
Artist Biography
Rapper Rye Rye hails from Baltimore, Maryland, and got her break at 17 when she began collaborating with DJ Blaqstarr on some early demos. Rye Rye’s intense, energetic style caught the ear of M.I.A. and Diplo, landing the rapper guest slots on tracks by each (including an appearance on the remix of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes”). She subsequently inked a deal with M.I.A.’s label N.E.E.T., which prepared Rye Rye’s full-length debut for release in 2009. The Blaqstarr-produced single “Shake It to the Ground” was made available digitally. She has also collaborated with Adrian Lux, the Count and Sinden, and M.I.A., who appears with Rye Rye on the single “Bang” from the Fast and Furious soundtrack.
