In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At 12, I played Wildwood Flower on a cheap acoustic guitar at my grandma’s wedding. The DJ had to hold the mic up to the sound hole for me so everyone could hear. I was nervous as could be, but when the crowd cheered for me, I was hooked.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? George Strait, 50 Number Ones Joe Nichols, Never Gets Old Morgan Wallen, One Thing At A Time George Strait’s 50 Number Ones is a timeless classic, he's my favorite artist. Joe Nichols’ Never Gets Old is clever and heartfelt. Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time has songs that I cover live. Catchy, emotional, and packed with great songwriting.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Same Bar, Different Town” The title track of my third album, "Same Bar, Different Town" is a personal one I wrote in a tough season with Blaine Younger and Lauren McClamb. It was my first radio single at #51 (on Music Row) and gets people singing. It's a staple in every set.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Being backstage with Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Joe Diffie and Neal McCoy at the Country Music HOF for the Earl Thomas Conley tribute swapping hunting stories. Reminds me that we’re just regular folks offstage, we still talk about it.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Sing to a sold-out stadiums. Step in the Circle and perform at the Grand Ole Opry. Hop on a bus with my band and tour across this beautiful country. If it gets as big as Strait, great—but I’ll always be the same guy fans supported from the start.
