Singer/songwriter Rubel is a 21st century highlight on the fertile, vibrant, Brazilian music scene, combining sounds from alternative music and MPB, always with the soft, calm, delivery, sensual singing voice, and carefully constructed atmospherics; they are his musical trademark. Pearl, his debut album was self-released to YouTube in 2015, along with a self-directed video for "Quando Bate That Saudade." It went viral in Brazil. Second album Casas arrived in 2018, and was recorded in Brazil. It earned a Latin Grammy nod thanks to single "Partilhar," a collaboration with Brazilian folk-pop duo ANAVITÓRIA. Following the album's release, he toured for two years, and began releasing singles and collaborations in earnest across 2021 and 2022, including "Coração Vagabundo" with Gal Costa. In 2023, he issued As Palavras, Vol. 1 & 2, a star-studded, 20-track effort that netted another Latin Grammy nomination. In May 2024, the album was released in the U.S. and Europe by Mr. Bongo.
