The group Rough Red is comprised of John Fegan on harmonica and acoustic guitar, Peter Harvey on keyboards and accordion, John Barr on bass guitar, Steve Tyson on acoustic and electric guitars, Dobro, and mandolin, and Dave Parnell on percussion and drums. All five talented members do their share of vocals. The five-piece outfit's music has been called Aussie folk and country-rock.
By 1996, this rocking, but with country flare, Australian group began to gain a lot of attention from the press and from fans. Rough Red was the first Australian band to appear at Denmark's Skagen Festival. That same year, the group toured through much of Europe.
Rough Red completed its debut album in 1999, Better Red Than Dead. It was followed by an excellent sophomore offering titled Seeing Red. The third album, Rough Red Uncorked, hit the stores in 2001. Some of the tracks from the debut are "Long Train Running," "I Don't Like These Tears," "Cause We Were Lovers," and "Backstage Desperado." Rough Red has topped the Australian CMT chats with a Top Five single, held the honor of Album of the Week for one of the biggest rock stations in Ireland, earned fans worldwide along the way, played to standing-room only crowds at festivals, and had music videos on CMT. ~ Charlotte Dillon
