ROTTENGRAFFTY is a long-running Japanese band that has inspired a cult following with their fusion of rock, hip-hop, punk, metal, electronica, and reggae.
∙ Formed in 1999, they first attracted attention in Japan with their live shows and acclaimed debut EP, 2001’s Radical Peace x Radical Genocide.
∙ “Warudakumi~Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence,” their 2003 single mixing original music with a film theme by legendary Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, earned praise from Sakamoto himself.
∙ More than 15 years after their formation, ROTTENGRAFFTY debuted in the Top 10 of the Oricon Albums chart with the 2015 EP Life Is Beautiful, a No. 6 hit.
∙ In 2017, their song “70cm Shihounomadobe” was used as the closing theme of the Japanese anime TV series Dragon Ball Super.
