Roboy is a Tampa rapper and R&B singer who was brought into the spotlight by hip-hop veteran Gucci Mane.
∙ Starting out in music as a teen, Roboy adopted his artist moniker as a play on “Roblock,” the nickname for an intersection in the neighborhood where he grew up.
∙ In 2019, he debuted with Decisions, following it later that year with Yours Truly and 2020’s Diamond in the Rough.
∙ After trap originator Gucci Mane put out a call for new artists and heard two of Roboy’s songs (“Lane Switch” and “Roblock Groove”), he quickly signed the young rapper to his revived 1017 label.
∙ Roboy appeared on Gucci Mane’s So Icy Gang, Vol. 1, a 2020 collaborative album showcasing the new talent he’d added to the 1017 roster.
