About Roan Ash
Artist Biography
Roan Ash’s soulful fusion of pop, folk, and country music has earned The Voice South Africa alum a teeming fanbase in his home country. The singer/songwriter, born in Pretoria in 1978, learned how to play guitar at age 13, kickstarting his journey in the music industry. In his late teens, while studying at the Campus of Performing Arts, Ash performed at any venue that would have him, leading to gigs as an opening act for local bands. In 2015, he independently released his debut album, The Traveller, but it was the commercial success of 2018’s Whiskey to My Soul that brought Ash’s flair for dreamy melodies and heartfelt lyrics to a wider audience. His inclusion in Apple Music’s global “Country Wide” campaign in 2018 and performance at the 2019 CMA Music Festival in Nashville catapulted the South African songster to international fame.
