In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I grew up surrounded by big jazz vocalists like Aretha Franklin and old school folk music like Neil Young. My dad would blast music on the big speakers at home and we would have dance parties in our living room as kids.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Billie Eilish, Happier Than Ever RAYE, My 21st Century Blues Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life These albums all have inspired me to create music that is authentic and pushes the boundaries of genre. The lyricism, production, and connection to real life experiences in these albums is unmatched - all raw and powerful in their own ways.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “My Body, My Problem” This song is a feminist reclamation of power and bodily autonomy. It's about the b******t we are told about our bodies and what to do with them. It really represents what I stand for as an artist, and explores unapologetic self-expression.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Filming the music video for "My Body, My Problem" was truly one of the best days of my life so far. I love the visual side to music and being able to collaborate with a team stacked with incredibly creative women and non-binary people was a dream.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to perform shows outside of Canada. So far, I have not crossed the border with my live shows. I would especially love to play in London, UK! A lot of my influences are UK R&B, it would be a dream to play stages they have graced.
