Formed in Guadalajara, Jalisco, in May 2004, Mexican alt-rock band Porter incorporated synth bass and programming artist Diego into an otherwise traditional rock lineup of guitars (Fernando and Victor) and drums (Juan Pablo), setting them apart from Guadalajara's predominantly punk-oriented scene. Porter's debut disc, 2004's Donde los Ponys Pastan, featured several singles that experienced strong local radio play, turning the album into a significant, gutsy debut. Over the following years, Porter performed at some of North America's most prominent music festivals before releasing their 2007 sophomore effort, Atemahawke. Featuring the English-language single "Host of a Ghost," the album climbed to number 11 on their country's pop sales charts, making them one of Mexican alt-rock's fastest rising bands. ~ Evan C.
