About Porches
Artist Biography
Whether saturated with slick synths or lined in melancholic guitar, Porches’ music always drips with tragic romanticism. The ever-evolving project of singer/songwriter Aaron Maine took shape in 2010 in his hometown of Pleasantville, New York. After moving to nearby Manhattan, Maine built up Porches from a lo-fi bedroom project to a full indie-rock band. Working alongside a small group of musicians (including then-girlfriend Greta Kline of Frankie Cosmos fame), Maine released Porches’ 2013 debut album, Slow Dance in the Cosmos, a buzzing collection of hazy, reflective rock. But by 2016’s Pool—and even more so on 2018’s The House—Maine had steered Porches in a different direction, adding serrated synths, a touch of sax, and heavy doses of Auto-Tune to his introspective tales. Since then, the band has remained a forum where Maine can comfortably experiment as he whips up a colorful brew of buoyant house music and woozy experimental pop on 2020’s Ricky Music and adds dashes of charged-up rock to 2021’s All Day Gentle Hold !
