About Pete Yorn
Artist Biography
With his dusky voice and heart-on-sleeve observations, Pete Yorn is a classic songwriter in the tradition of greats like Bruce Springsteen. However, the New Jersey native is also a ferociously talented multi-instrumentalist. In 2001, he played nearly every instrument on his debut album, musicforthemorningafter, musing about life’s ups and downs on songs such as “Life On a Chain” and “Strange Condition.” Born in 1974, Yorn started off as a drummer before switching to guitar and launching a solo career. After the success of musicforthemorningafter, he struck gold again with 2003’s folky “Come Back Home.” As his career progressed, Yorn opened up his sound via collaborations, working with noted indie producer Mike Mogis for 2009's Back & Fourth and teaming up with actress Scarlett Johansson for the album Break Up. In the time since, Yorn has kept true to his songwriting heart, releasing a spirited 2021 covers album, Pete Yorn Sings the Classics, and 2022’s characteristically perceptive Hawaii.
