A prog-metal band from Washington, D.C., Periphery pioneered the “djent” movement, which highlights distorted guitar chords and rhythmic complexity.
∙ The video for their hellscape metalcore anthem, 2012’s “Make Total Destroy,” has notched more than 6 million views.
