Producer, perfumer, and runner-up on season seven of RuPaul's Drag Race, Pearl, or Pearl Liaison, is the drag persona of Matthew James Lent. Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, Lent later moved to Chicago and debuted as drag show star Pearl in 2012. The success of Pearl brought him to the clubs of Brooklyn where, in 2014, Lent announced Pearl had joined the reality television show RuPaul's Drag Race. Putting the Stepford Wives persona to icy good use, Pearl became runner-up, losing to Violet Chachki but gaining a loyal fan base. In 2015, Pearl the producer debuted when Lent released the EDM effort Pleasure. The album climbed to number 11 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart, while its appearance coincided with the release of Flazéda, Pearl's signature fragrance. ~ David Jeffries
