Artist Biography
The Overnight Lows' official debut full-length was released in 2010; however, the gritty Jackson, MS-based combo had, in fact, been a presence in the punk scene of the South for nearly a decade-and-a-half prior. The core unit of husband-and-wife duo Marsh and Daphne Nabors took on the name the Overnight Lows in 1995 (the pair also spent time in the Comas as well as in power pop punks Lover!). The band plays trashy, scrappy punk that traverses the more knuckled-headed environs of the punk universe, heavy on buzzing guitars and hooky choruses, and offering clear nods to goof-offs like the Angry Samoans and "This Place Sucks"-era Queers, with a little classic Black Flag aggression thrown in as well. A perfect example of heart winning out over any conventional understanding of technique, the band's drunken, chaotic live shows became the stuff of legend and eventually led to Memphis' Goner Records agreeing to release the band's debut, City of Rotten Eyes. The Nabors were joined on the album by drummer Paul Artigues from New Orleans' Die Rötzz ~ Nate Knaebel
