Praised for his tight rhyme schemes and double-time flows, Brighton-based MC Ocean Wisdom wraps braggadocio in the technique of a rap traditionalist. Born Ocean Alexander Alouwishas Wisdom in 1993, Ocean was beatboxing by the age of 7 before deciding to put his own lyrics together. In 2014, he hit the studio to record "Walkin’," a swaggering debut track that became famous for including raps that were even faster than those Eminem unloaded on "Rap God." In 2016, he released Chaos 93’, a debut album laced with classical boom-bap instrumentals and knotty rhymes. While that project was characterized by a throwback aesthetic, on subsequent albums like 2018's Wizville, he leaned into a heavier grime sound. Since then, Wiz has only grown more reflective, tackling themes like mental health and political strife on 2021's Stay Sane. All the while, he's reinforced his status as one of the sharpest rap technicians in the UK.
