Artist Biography
A soul-rooted singer and songwriter who counts Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, and Chronixx among her inspirations, Nia Smith debuted in 2024 with the organic Give Up the Fear EP. The Brixton native went viral four years earlier with her cover of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain," uploaded early into the COVID-19 lockdown. Although she had been recording for some time, it wasn't until 2024 that she made her commercial debut. Signed to major-label Polydor, Smith appeared in May 2024 with the resolute ballad "Give Up the Fear," co-produced by the Grammy-winning Jimmy Napes. Three months later, after she performed at SZA's BST Hyde Park festival, she was back with the reggae-inflected "Personal," issued as both a solo version and as a collaboration with Popcaan. Following the release of the downcast "Little Red Car," Smith offered Give Up the Fear, a five-track EP that included the previous singles.
