Genre
Reggae
b. c.1965, Manchester, England. Although born in the UK, Morrison spent his formative years in Jamaica. His route to stardom included several successful appearances on local talent shows in Kingston and singing over dub plates on sound systems. By 1986 he was encouraged by dancehall singer Half Pint to go for an audition with George Phang, who had produced the singer's classic "Greetings". Having convinced the producer of his abilities, Morrison recorded his debut, "Lovers Feeling". By 1988 Morrison had returned to the UK where his cousin Dennis Rowe asked him to sing on the legendary Saxon sound system, and produced his UK debut, "Got To Make A Change". By the early 90s he had a string of hits for a number of producers, including "Best Of Me", "Wanna Make Love", "Phone Me", "You're Gonna Leave" and his number 1 hit "Crying Over You". In 1995 Morrison accepted the role of Mango in Devon Morgan's musical play, Johnny Dollar. The show featured a number of top UK performers including Sylvia Tella, Peter Hunningale and Tippa Irie. He returned to the recording scene with the Christmas 1995 release of his biggest-selling single to date, "True Friends", which reached the top of the reggae chart in the spring of 1996. A year later he repeated his chart success with "This Game Called Love", enhanced by an infectious loop including the horn riff from Delroy Wilson's "Dancing Mood".
