Artist Biography

A Canadian singer/songwriter with a guileless voice, Nell Smith had a gift for tapping into the deper emotions within songs, whether they were her own or written by others. She made an impressive debut when she was just 14 years old with 2021's Where the Viaduct Looms, an album of inventive, sensitively rendered Nick Cave covers featuring the Flaming Lips as her backing band. Her posthumous second album, 2025's Anxious, revealed the talents that were coming into bloom before her death at age 17.
