With songs as esoteric, enigmatic, and imaginative as its name, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin stirred up critical raves and a loyal fan base on both sides of the Atlantic at the dawn of the 1990s. Much of the band’s original sound derived from its frenzied low end; Ned’s featured two bassists to create their swirling, otherworldly backdrop. A consistent pop hit-maker in Britain, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin were confined mostly to MTV’s later hours in America, but scored a massive modern rock hit with 1993’s "Not Sleeping Around." The band broke up in 1995, but would sporadically reunite for live shows.
