Conductor Nate Fifield brought the ballet repertoire to the Billboard charts as part of a career that has included leading orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, San Francisco Ballet, Semperoper Ballett in Dresden, and Nashville Ballet, where he has served as principal conductor.
• Fifield has released a series of albums recontextualizing classic songs for ballet class. The 2017 collection Pop Hits for Ballet Class, Volume Two—featuring classical renditions of songs ranging from Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to Rihanna’s “Umbrella”—was his chart debut, reaching No. 17 on Billboard's Classical Albums chart in 2016.
• He reached the Top 10 in 2019 with Disney Hits for Ballet Class, Vol. 1, which includes selections from Mary Poppins, The Lion King, and 101 Dalmatians.
• Among other works, Fifield conducted The Ben Folds Project with the Nashville Ballet when it debuted in 2014. The ballet commissioned the work from Folds, better known as a singer, songwriter, and frontman for the trio Ben Folds Five.
