Moon King is the synth pop project of Toronto-born, Detroit-based singer/producer Daniel Benjamin. After spending time in the early 2010s as a part of Montreal's electronic scene, a move to Detroit in 2016 found Benjamin shifting to dance and disco influences, due in no small part to his immersion in Detroit's vibrant dance music and DJ culture. The 2017 album Hamtramck '16 documented this shift in Moon King's sound, and he continued exploring movement- and rhythm-based songwriting on subsequent albums like 2024's Roses.
